Contents -> Outside Views

Outside camera views can be obtained by pressing F3, F4, and F5. Pressing F3 multiple times will cycle to the next 'interesting' object.

When you press F3 you should see a similar view as shown with stats about your aircraft.

Diagram of an outside view

  1. Velocity vector compass, indicates the `xy plane' direction of your current velocity. If intercepting a waypoint, then that a small tick will point in the direction of that waypoint on the compass.
  2. Heading in degrees, specifies the direction your aircraft is facing.
  3. Elevator trim, fine tunes aircraft pitch angles (not useful with helicopters). Use keys HOME and END to adjust it and CTRL + HOME to re-center.
  4. Engine state and power output, specifies the current engine power output and whether the engine is on or off. This may have a slight delay with the actual throttle position.
  5. Altitude AGL (above ground level) in feet, specifies how high you are above the landable ground. This includes mountains, buildings, and other landable obstructures raised above ground level.
  6. Rate of climb, the vertical velocity in feet per second.
  7. Miniature attitude ticks, indicates the attitude (orientation) of your aircraft.
  8. Speed in miles per hour.
