US CPI now reaches 2025

adjust_inflation(..., "USD", to_year = 2025) failed, and USD calls without a to_year stopped at 2024 while every other currency reached 2025. The World Bank has not published a 2025 US CPI because the Bureau of Labor Statistics collected no October 2025 prices during the lapse in appropriations. BLS did publish the 2025 CPI-U annual average (from the eleven months collected), and the World Bank’s US series is that same measure, so 2025 is chained on from it: 2025 = 2024 x 321.943 / 313.689. Years up to 2024 are unchanged.

Results change for USD CPI calls without a to_year, which now default to 2025.

Data refresh

Re-fetched from the World Bank (WDI updated 8 October 2026). The only revision is to Norwegian CPI before 2003, by at most 0.05%.

Bundled data now runs to 2025

Refreshed from the World Bank Development Indicators. Every series gains 2025 except US CPI, which the World Bank has not yet published beyond 2024. The US GDP deflator does reach 2025.

Results will change. Two separate reasons:

Brazil now starts at 1990, not 1980

Rebasing to 2020 = 100 pushes Brazil’s hyperinflation years so far below the base that four decimal places cannot represent them, and they were being stored as exactly zero. A zero index divides, so adjust_inflation(100, 1985, 2020, currency = "BRL") returned Inf rather than refusing the request. Those years are now dropped, so the ordinary coverage check rejects them with a message naming the real range. 40 stored values were affected across brl_cpi and brl_gdp_def.
